CEN: Intro and Executive Workshop

First, please allow me to briefly introduce the organization, Chinese Entrepreneur Network (CEN). Its mission is to develop leadership for a sustainable future.

We aims to enhance and inspire entrepreneurship and sense of social responsibilities through variety of activities, including but not limit to seminars, executive workshops, startup founder gatherings, pitch of business plans, business and green-tech competitions, and networking with entrepreneurs and faculties.

Second, the growth path. Right now, CEN is a UM registered organization consists of students and scholars across schools at the University of Michigan and people from industries in Michigan. It has grown rapidly to over 100 people in just three months. We are planning to expand it by establishing chapters in Beijing and in other states (based in universities) in US.

Once Beijing chapter is created, CEN can become a bridge between Beijing and Ross B-school at UM (and later in other B-schools) for Chinese or American entrepreneurs. We will ask high profile entrepreneurs, such as Warren Liu, and B-school professors, such as Prof Minyuan Zhao, etc., as our advisors. CEN has already successfully held a number of events and launched two focus sub-groups (IT/Start and Green Entrepreneur), and has established collaborations with many local student organizations and industry associations.

Third, we plan to organize an Executive Workshop to invite entrepreneurs/executives/investors/faculties in Beijing to come to Ross for a (around) 10 days workshop. We are still working on the agenda of the workshop, but we have officially talked with William and Davidson Institute (WDI) and Center for International Business Education (CIBE) at Ross. We already got the green light and CIBE assistant director is willing to help on invitation letter, some logistics and sponsorship. WDI will be able to (need to finalize) courses, faculty access and local arrangements.

Roughly we ask WDI at Ross to hold 3-4 days courses, and 1 days seminar, followed by 1-2 days CEN annual forum where the Beijing group can interact with local community, demonstrate their business or interest, recruit local talents, seek business partners, conduct business development with Michigan companies or Chinese startups, and network with faculties/scholars for future possibilities. After that 4-6 days schedule, CEN will arrange two types of tours: 1) Tour to Big3 and talk with their executives (2 days); 2) Sightseeing in Michigan (1-2days) (and possibly other states 2-3 days, if applicable).

The CEN team fully believes this will be a valuable experience and opportunity for the coming Chinese executives.
